In fact, they took a sector that had been known for years as "contact management software" and transformed it into "customer relationship management software" that could be used online. Salesforce.com brought flexibility to the CRM marketplace. Prior to this title's existence, its type of software had to be downloaded and installed on a user's hard drive, or it came on a CD. Salesforce.com enabled companies to buy accounts and populate prospect records via the Internet. The power to use a CRM anywhere a data connection exists seems like an average thing now, but Salesforce.com help give the business world that capability. That they are still in this niche today speaks to them being the best in it!
